Cyber Security TA Position for Spring 2018 - Dean Wang
The Teaching Assistant will help develop and teach a new course related to cyber security and cyber physical systems.

GA opening in Aviation Management and Flight - Dean Lee
This assistantship will be responsible for dispatching aircraft, keeping track of hobbs/tach times for each aircraft using the online flight scheduling software Talon, opening and closing procedures, and other duties as assigned. In addition, the assistantship will include proctoring electronic FAA Knowledge Tests and Aviation related knowledge tests.

SIU Dental Clinic hosts "Give Adults a Smile" day - Andrew Feather
For most, the dentist's chair isn't their favorite place, but Friday, free dental exams, x-rays and cleanings brought a smile to many."Give Adults a Smile" day at the Southern Illinois University Dental Clinic offered this service to adults who are uninsured, on a fixed income, or on Medicaid.

SIU Carbondale joins accelerated architecture licensing initiative
The university’s School of Architecture graduate program was accepted into the National Council of Architectural Registration Board (NCARB) Integrated Path to Architectural Licensure (IPAL) initiative. SIU Carbondale is one of 26 programs from 21 colleges and universities now in the program and the first in Illinois to participate.

Whether she was competing on the track in junior Olympics or high school, participating in her volunteer activities, or maintaining a perfect 4.0 grade point average, Avona Greene always focused on her goals. With a bachelor’s degree in health care management and a minor in psychology, Greene participate in commencement exercises for the College of Applied Sciences and Arts at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, May 13, at the SIU Arena.

There will be 24 faculty presenters and 21 presentations during the Friday, April 28, event. The presentations are from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Carbondale Community Arts Center, 304 W. Walnut St., Carbondale. The presentation is free and open to the public. There will be refreshments.

United Day 2017
A United Airlines Airbus 320 loaded with 140 passengers: Chicago area high school students, SIU Alumni and staff gracefully landed at Southern Illinois Airport around 9:05am. SIU and United Airlines have enjoyed this partnership for more than 20 years.

SIU to offer course for drone operators - Pete Rosenbery
The two-day workshop, Saturday and Sunday, May 6-7, will be at the Transportation Education Center at the Southern Illinois Airport. The workshops are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. This will be the fifth workshop the university’s aviation program has held since November. The registration deadline is April 28.

Dennis Ramsook, a senior business management major with specialization in management of health-care enterprises from Terre Haute, Ind., and Jacqueline Nash, a sophomore health care management major from Bettendorf, Iowa, are the 2017 recipients of the MidAmerica Healthcare Executives Forum Award.

Give Kids a Smile Day 2017
For the 15th year, Dental Hygiene has hosted the Give Kids a Smile Day program giving free checkups and cleanings to approximately 100 kids!

Dental students provide free dental care to low-income children - Olivia Spiers
When the program started in 2003, an average of 50 children were treated. In the past years, the program has since grown to treat almost 300 children annually. The 100 dental students volunteering usually stay from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. examining children’s teeth.
