2015 HONORS DAY

April 06, 2015

Each Spring semester an Honors Day Recognition Ceremony is held for undergraduate students exhibiting high achievement. Qualification for recognition is determined at the end of the third week of the Spring semester. Recognition at that time will be accorded to a full- or part-time undergraduate student who has attained an undergraduate cumulative grade point average at SIU Carbondale of 3.50 or better and, if applicable, a 3.50 or better cumulative average in all undergraduate work (including transfer credit) recognized by SIU. This year the Honors Day ceremonies went well last Saturday, April 11, 2015. The University event starts at 2:00pm in the Student Center Ballrooms, followed by the College ceremony at 3:30pm in the TEC (Transportation Education Center). More than 100 students were recognized by Chairs, Directors, faculty, staff, families and friends. Mr. Ralph Tate, Professor of Automotive Technology, was the Master of Ceremonies. Ms. Camelle Logan, President & CEO of TeamingSolution for Education and the President of CASA Board of Counselors, introduced the 2014-15 CASA Distinguished Alumni Award recipient, Mr. Dan Sherman. Dr. Sandy Collins, the 2014 E.J. and Mary C. Simon Distinguished Faculty Award recipient introduced Jennifer Sherry, the 2015 E.J. and Mary C. Simon Distinguished Faculty Award recipient. Both Mr. Sherman and Professor Sherry delivered a touching and inspiring speech to the students who were honored on Saturday. All Honors Day photos below were provided by Dr. Sam Chung.

The CASA Honors Day Committee has done an outstanding job in planning and organizing this years Honors Day event. Thanks to Mr. Nathan Black, the ceremony was broadcast live to all our 15 off-campus program sites throughout the nation via Adobe Connect. I would like to extend my appreciation to the Honors Day Committee, staff members, and all of the volunteers who helped organize and facilitate this event. Thank you all!
